The Connect for Outlook Side Panel is the primary interface for Salesloft activity inside Outlook. It gives sales reps access to Person profiles, Cadence management, reminders, CRM record logging, and more — without leaving the inbox. This reference covers every element in the Connect Side Panel and links to step-by-step guides for common actions.
The side panel is accessible from two contexts in Outlook:
|
Starting Location
|
Path
|
|---|
|
Viewing or replying to an email
|
Click the Salesloft logo in the email toolbar — or — click the ellipses (...) above the message → hover over Salesloft Connect → select Open Salesloft
|
|
Drafting a new email
|
Click the ellipses (...) in the send bar (same row as the Send button) → hover over Salesloft Connect → select Open Salesloft
|
Things to Note: When drafting an email, a recipient must be present in the To field for Person information to appear in the panel.

Figure 1: Steps to open the Salesloft Connect side panel in Outlook.
Pin the Side Panel
You can pin the side panel so it stays open as you move between messages, rather than re-opening it each time.
- To pin: Open the side panel, then click the pin icon in the upper right corner.
- To unpin: Click the pin icon again. The panel will close when you navigate to a new message.
Things to Note:
- You can only pin the panel in Read mode (while viewing an email). You cannot pin it while composing a new message.
- Pinning is available for Office 365 subscribers using Outlook 2016 or later on Windows, Outlook 2016 or later on Mac, or Outlook on the web.

Figure 2: Pinned side panel with pin icon highlighted in upper right corner.
The side panel content is the same for all users. The specific tabs and actions available depend on context (viewing vs. drafting an email) rather than user role.

The Account view brings real-time company context into the side panel so you can review an Account and act on it without leaving Outlook. It displays firmographic details, related stakeholders and opportunities, team-wide activity, and notes for the Account associated with the Person you are viewing.
Opening and Navigating the Account View
- Open it: From the Person Profile header, click the Account name to switch the panel to that company's Account view.
- Go back: Click the Back arrow at the top of the Account view to return to the Person you came from.
Things to Note:
- The Account view requires the View Accounts permission on your Salesloft profile. If you do not have it, the Account name will not open an Account view.
- You cannot create a new Account from the panel. If no matching Account exists, no Account view is shown.
The Account view is organized into four tabs, plus a row of aggregated metrics.

Things to Note:
- Radical changes made in Salesforce (such as changing an Account Tier or deal Stage) may take a short sync window to appear in the Account view.
- For very large Enterprise accounts, the activity feed loads progressively to keep the panel responsive.
- The Account view is supported in Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, and Outlook on the web (OWA).
If the email address you are viewing does not match a Person in Salesloft, the panel displays a "Person not found" message instead of a profile.

Why does my Send button look different from my colleague's?
The Lofting Enabled toggle and the Loft and Send button are the same feature — they perform the same function. When either is turned on, your messages are logged and tracked through Salesloft.
The difference is visual only and depends on your version of Outlook:
|
What you see
|
Why
|
|---|
|
Lofting Enabled toggle
|
You're on a newer version of Outlook with a modern layout
|
|
Loft and Send button
|
You're on an older version of Outlook with a classic layout
|
Both options log and track your email the same way. If you see the Loft and Send button, note that it uses an older display style and may not support all of the automatic syncing features available in newer Outlook versions.
If you're unsure which version of Outlook you're running, check with your IT team.
