Team Roles in Align
Overview
The Team Roles feature is like a blueprint that shows which people will participate in different steps in a buying process.
Reps can collaborate with champions and stakeholders. You can map members on the buying team to roles and map those roles to specific milestones. This way, your team (and the buyers 😎) can quickly see who's responsible for what part of the buying process.
Use Cases
BuyersBuyers want to know which people on their team are involved in each step of the buying process. This gives buyers visibility on where things are blocked and lets them pull the right teammates in as needed.
RepsYour reps can map different buyer teammates to each stage of your deal. This ensures you've got the right people involved in different deal stages. And, that everyone on your team has visibility into the other people on your selling team that will drive the deal.
ManagersManagers want to ensure that reps know which roles to involve in a deal. This is especially true for new reps that are ramping up. Managers also want to check that reps use the right resources from the sales team for assistance.
How To Add Roles
Note: An Align administrator creates roles in the Team Roles section of Organization Settings. Click here to go to
Align Organization Settings.

Once Admins add a role, it's available to add to Align templates or individual plans. Follow the steps below to add a role to templates or plans.
1. Click here to go to Align Organization Settings.
2. Add a role to your organization team or the customer’s team. These are typically job titles or personas that sales or CS teams engage with.
Add Roles to Templates
You can insert team roles into templates to create fillable role cards to be viewable by both buyers and sellers, with a plan created from that template. Admins will insert Team Roles created in organization settings into templates.
1. Click this link to go to Templates.
2. Edit existing templates to add team roles.
Note: You can also add team roles when creating a new template.
3. Select the Team tab of your template.

4. Add roles to the customer team.

5. Select the appropriate role to add to the selling team or buying team.

6. Add roles to the selling team.

7. Once you add roles to your templates, they appear as empty profile cards you can fill with the correct people (see below).

8. You can also select what milestones this role should be a part of in your plan. When you fill a role in an active plan, that contact will automatically be added to the selected milestone(s).

That's it! Now, Team Roles will automatically apply to all future and past plans you create from this template. 🔥
How To Fill Team Roles in a Plan
You can access Team Roles from plans created from an existing template or add them directly to a plan. Reps cannot create new Team Roles. They can only select existing ones added in Align Organization Settings.
1. Use the Team tab on a plan to use Team Roles. Add roles directly to a plan (if not already added to a template).
2. Select
Fill This Roll.
2. Add a contact to fill the role.

3. You can add contacts directly to their corresponding milestones in an active plan.
