Current Quarter and Last Quarter/Previous Quarter Pulse
Overview
How are we doing this quarter?
This is not just one question, but actually several questions in one:
- How is the quarter progressing over time?
- How is our forecast call evolving against the quota?
- Are we meeting linearity?
- How will we end the quarter?
Clari's Pulse Module answers all of those questions. Pulse combines your CRM information from the Opportunities Module, your call and your team's calls from Forecast, and the Projection from Trend all in one single view. Even if you are not yet using Forecast, Pulse can show you how you are performing against the Clari Projection.

There are many different dimensions to Pulse.
If you use Forecast, be sure to first adjust Pulse to see your data:
1. Under Filters, set the Scope to your team.
2. Under Settings, set the Breakdown to Forecast.
Pulse Table
You can select or deselect entire categories or specific data points to add or remove them from the Chart. You can also click on the Category names to visually collapse/expand the listings.
The Pulse data in the table is organized into 3 categories: Clari Insights, Forecast, and Opportunities. If you have Forecast in Clari, the Quota line will be ever-present.

How to answer key questions using Pulse
How is the quarter evolving?
- Deselect the Clari Insights category
- Deselect the Forecast category
- Select the Opportunities category
Your total inventory of closed and open deals week over week is displayed. During the week, the values (i.e. amount, number of deals) will change with every update before values are frozen at the end of that week. You'll see the Closed bar will increase as new deals are won, and Pipeline will fluctuate:

Scroll over the options in the legend at the bottom of the Chart or hover over a row in the table beneath the Chart to highlight each forecast category in the Chart. Below, the Best Case forecast category is highlighted:

Based on the current pipeline, where are we likely to end up?
- Under Clari Insights, select Projection
- Deselect Forecast
- Select Opportunities
Hover your cursor over any of the Forecast categories to convert the bar display from pipeline coverage to deal amount. Hover your cursor over the gray pill above the pipeline to see the total pipeline for the quarter during that week.
In the example below, we’ve closed $25.6M so far. In this case you can see that after week 2 of the quarter, the Clari Projection dropped below the quota of $44.5M. It looks like this change was due to a significant decrease in pipeline in week 3.

How does the Forecast Call compare to the AI Projection?
- Deselect Opportunities
- Under the Clari Insights category, select Projection
- Under the Net New Business category, select Hard Commit and Upside:
You can see how Forecast started off the quarter on an optimistic note, and the calls begin to align with the Clari Projection as the weeks go by:

Under Forecast, select the Team Call to verify if everyone is on the same page:

Are we meeting linearity?
- Deselect Forecast category
- Under the Opportunities category, select Closed
- Under the Clari Insights category, select Pacing
By default, the Pacing is set to look for 20% of the quota to be closed the first month, 50% of the quota to be closed the second month, and 100% to be closed at the end of the quarter. The Pacing percentages may be customized for your Clari instance, but they will always be displayed in three monthly segments.
In this example, we missed our linearity goal for the first month of this quarter, but caught up in the second month:

Review Previous Quarters in Pulse
With Pulse, you can not only check your current quarter, you can review the past 4 quarters as well!

Filters and Settings
As with other Clari Analyze Modules, the left-hand side of the screen reflects your organization's template, allowing you to filter by your specific CRM hierarchy and Opportunity fields. The Chart and Table data will dynamically adjust based on your selection(s).
Open a support ticket to make any additions to the choices in these panels.
Filters
The left Filter panel contains the Scope and other reference fields from the Opportunities Module. You can select multiple filters to drill down to different regions, deal types, or other criteria.

Scope: The Scope in Clari will reflect your CRM hierarchy. This setting will limit or expands the deals that are pulled in (or taken into account) depending on whether or not the owner of the deal is included within the node in the hierarchy that you select.
Add Filter: You may find additional filter options by clicking the Add Filter button. These filters will include fields that your specific organization has chosen to include in the Analyze Modules.
Chart Settings
Amount: The Amount drop-down will include the amount fields (i.e. Deal Size, Net New ARR, Total Contract Value) that your organization elects to pull in. This filter determines which amount field is used to rollup the numbers in Flow, Pulse, and Trend.
Breakdown Field: The Breakdown Field allows you to control the field by which your inventory of deals is segmented. Most organizations segment their inventory of deals by Forecast Category (i.e. Pipeline, Best Case, Commit) or stage (i.e. S0, S1, S2, S3, S4) in Pulse and Trend.
Overall Forecast: If you do have multiple tabs in the Forecast Module, then select an option from the Overall Forecast filter to determine which tab Clari pulls the Quota, Commit Call, and Team Call from — whether that’s New Business, Renewals, or a specific Product Line, for example.
Date: This is the date field that is used to determine whether or not an opportunity is associated with the selected date range (i.e. last quarter, this quarter, or next quarter). The Date filter in the Analyze Modules will typically include the Close Date, but can also include other options if you have any other date field that reflects revenue recognition more accurately than the opportunity Close Date (i.e. a “Bookings” date field).
