How do Filters in Analytics work?
You can add filters in Analytics for fields that are on the Opportunity record and are not reference fields. The behavior of the filters will depend on if the field is history tracked or not.
Non-History Tracked Fields
Let’s say a particular opportunity has the value of “Renewal” for Opportunity Type. In this case, Clari has no concept of history for Opportunity Type. So when looking at Flow, the opportunity is guaranteed to be in the “Renewal” category at the START and END.
That means if you are filtering out opportunities with Opportunity Type equals “Renewal”, that opportunity will not show up anywhere in Flow since at no point does Clari see it as being anything other than “Renewal” (even if in relative it had a different value at the Start of the close date range selected).
History Tracked Fields
Let’s say a particular opportunity has the value of “Exclude” for the Include in Forecast field at the Start of the close date range selected, but at the End of the close date range it was marked as “Include."
In this case, if you filter out opportunities with the value of “Exclude”, the opportunity will not show up at the start, but since it’s “Include” by the End, it will show up in the “New” bucket in Flow. Inversely, if you filter out opportunities with the value “Include”, then the opportunity will show up at the Start but the value won’t be accounted for in the pipes that go to End.
It’s generally best to only filter on fields that are not history tracked in Analytics. These fields typically are not history-sensitive, and filtering is straightforward.
