This guide walks you through getting set up with Conversation Intelligence in Salesloft for the first time. By the end, you'll have connected your calendar, added your voice fingerprint, and opened your first recorded call in Activity > Conversation Intelligence. The whole process takes about 15 minutes.
- Navigation note: Screens and settings paths in this article may look slightly different from what you see in your org. All setup steps below happen within Salesloft's Settings menu.
- Account access: An active Salesloft account on the Advanced tier or above.
- Admin setup complete: Your Salesloft admin must have enabled Team Access and assigned you a Conversation Intelligence role. If Activity > Conversation Intelligence is not visible in the top navigation menu, contact your admin.
- Conversation Intelligence role assigned: You need a role other than Observer to record calls and access AI insights. If you can see Activity > Conversation Intelligence in the top navigation menu but no content appears, ask your admin to assign you a role in User Management.
- Admins: Complete admin setup first — see Manage Conversation Intelligence in Salesloft — then return here for your own user setup.
- Users (reps, managers): Continue to User Setup below. Admin setup must be complete before users can access Conversation Intelligence. If the Conversation Intelligence tab is not visible under Activity, contact your admin before continuing.
Let's get started. To set up Conversation Intelligence in Salesloft, follow the steps below.
Step 1 — Access Conversation Intelligence
From Salesloft, go to the top navigation bar and hover over Activity, then select Conversation Intelligence. The first time you navigate here, an onboarding tour will launch automatically.
Things to Note: If you can see the Conversation Intelligence tab but no content appears, your Conversation Intelligence role may still be set to Observer. Contact your admin and ask them to assign you a recording role in the User Management Conversation Intelligence Settings.
Step 2 — Connect your calendar
In order for the Conversation Intelligence bot to detect your scheduled meetings and automatically join them for recording, you must connect your calendar.
- Go to your initials/avatar in the top right → Settings → CI Preferences.
- Scroll and find the Integrations section.
- You'll see cards for Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar.
- Google Calendar: shows a green "Connected" status once linked, with a Disconnect option.
- Outlook Calendar: select "Sign in with Outlook to connect."
For full connection steps and known limitations, see Connect Your Recording Platform to Conversation Intelligence.
Step 3 — Add your voice sample
Your voice sample allows Conversation Intelligence to identify your voice compared to anyone else's on a call.
To add a voice sample:
- Go to your initials/avatar in the top right → Settings → CI preferences.
- Under Account Details, find the Voice Sample field.
- Select Set up Voice Sample and follow the prompts to record a sample.
Step 4 — Download the Conversation Intelligence apps
Salesloft now offers both a Desktop App and a Mobile App:
- Desktop App: enables real-time features during live calls, including Battlecards, Monologue Alerts, and Bookmarks. You can record calls and review recordings without it, but you won't have access to live in-call features.
- Mobile App (iPhone and Android): lets you access your call library, call summaries, coaching, and upcoming meetings on the go.
To download either: go to Settings → CI Preferences, and scroll to the Download section. Select Salesloft CI Desktop App or Download Salesloft CI Mobile App. Sign in using your Salesloft credentials.
Optional — Personalize your coaching settings:
Coaching settings are only available in the desktop app. Once you've downloaded the Desktop app, you can personalize Coaching settings.
Under Settings → CI preferences, you can also adjust your personal Monologue Threshold (default: 90 seconds) and set up to 4 Bookmark Categories for tagging moments during live calls. Under Settings → Notifications, you can configure Call Actions — pre- and post-meeting email/Slack messages, message timing, and follow-up email templates.
Step 5 — Record your first meeting
The Conversation Intelligence bot automatically joins scheduled meetings from your synced calendar that have a video conference link and at least one external participant. For your first recording, use an upcoming external meeting. For manual recording and ad hoc calls, see Record a Meeting with Conversation Intelligence.
When the meeting starts, allow the Conversation Intelligence bot in when it appears as a participant. After the meeting ends, give the bot a few minutes to process the recording.
Step 6 — Open and review your first call recording
- Navigate to Activity > Conversation Intelligence in Salesloft top navigation.
- Your first recording will appear in the call list.
- Click the call to open it.
The call review page shows: Recording and transcript in the center (use the speaker audio graph to navigate); AI insights in the right panel (Summary, Chapters, Playbook, Bookmarks tabs); CRM data accessible from the top-right dropdown when Salesforce is connected; and Ask Conversation Intelligence for natural-language questions about the call.
You've completed getting started when your first recorded call appears in Activity > Conversation Intelligence and you can open the recording and see the transcript and AI summary.
