This guide walks you through using Conversation Intelligence in Salesloft as a manager for the first time. By the end, you'll have reviewed a team call, left coaching feedback on a specific moment, and know how to find the right calls to coach on every day. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
In this article,
- Navigation note: Navigation may look different if your organization uses standalone access to Conversation Intelligence. This article reflects the Salesloft platform experience. Personal setup steps (calendar, voice sample, app downloads) now happen within Salesloft's own Settings menu.
- Admin setup complete: Your Salesloft admin must have enabled Team Access and assigned you a Conversation Intelligence role. If Activity > Conversation Intelligence is not visible, contact your admin.
- Conversation Intelligence role assigned: As a manager you will be assigned Manager (Recording) or Manager (Non-Recording). Both roles have access to everything in this guide.
Your team must also be set up: Team members must be provisioned and assigned Conversation Intelligence roles before their calls appear in your team view. If no team calls appear, confirm with your admin that role and manager assignments are complete.
Managers who also have the ability to record will need to properly setup their Conversation Intelligence recording experience.
If you are a Manager (Non-Recording), skip to Find the Right Calls to Coach.
Step 1 — Connect your calendar
Go to your initials/avatar in the top right → Settings → CI Preferences. Under Integrations, connect Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar.
Step 2 — Add your voice sample
Go to your initials/avatar in the top right → Settings → CI preferences. Under Account Details, find the Voice Sample field and select Set up Voice Sample, then follow the prompts to record a sample.
Step 3 — Download the Conversation Intelligence apps (optional)
Go to Settings → CI Preferences and scroll to the Downloads section. The Desktop App activates real-time features — Battlecards, Monologue Alerts, and Bookmarks. Bookmarks are particularly useful for managers: flag key moments during a live call to return to when leaving coaching feedback. A Mobile App is also available for reviewing calls, summaries, and coaching on the go. Select the download you need and sign in with your Salesloft credentials.
Recording manager setup is complete when your calendar is connected and your voice sample is recorded.
Step 1 — Access your team's calls
From the Salesloft top navigation menu, hover over Activity, then select Conversation Intelligence. You will land in the Team Calls tab where you can see all calls recorded by members of your team.
Things to Note: If team calls do not appear, confirm with your admin that your team members' Conversation Intelligence roles are assigned and their manager assignments in User Management point to you.
Step 2 — Apply filters to find coaching-worthy calls
- From the Salesloft top navigation menu, hover over Activity, then select Conversation Intelligence.
- Click + More Filters in the recordings view.
- Filter by competitor mentions, long monologues, low interactivity, topic mentions, rep name, call duration, or talk/listen ratio.
- Example: + More Filters > Contains > Pricing > Pricing AI Detected
- Apply your filters, click Save, name the filter (optional). Check the Filter Alert box to receive a notification whenever a new call matches your criteria.
Things to Note: Your admin can configure Shared Filters for the team — check your Saved Filters dropdown to see if any are already set up.

Open a call recording
From the recordings list, click any call to open the call review page.
The call review page has three main areas:
- Recording and transcript in the center (use the speaker audio graph to jump to specific moments)
- AI insights in the right panel (Summary, Chapters, Playbook, Bookmarks tabs)
- CRM data in the top-right dropdown when Salesforce is connected
Use Ask Conversation Intelligence to quickly orient yourself — "What objections came up?" or "What were the agreed next steps?"
First value moment: You've completed manager onboarding when you've left timestamped coaching feedback on a specific call moment and the rep has been notified.
Leave a timestamped comment
- In a call recording, pause playback at the relevant moment.
- In the right panel, click to add a comment.
- Type your feedback and tag the rep using @ + their name.
- Submit the comment.
The comment is anchored to the timestamp where you paused (visible as a blue timestamp indicator, e.g., 05:16). When the rep clicks through from their notification, they jump directly to that moment. If you bookmarked moments during a live call with the desktop app, those bookmarks appear in the Bookmarks tab as pre-flagged coaching moments.
