When should I use Filters vs. Groups?
In some cases, you can use filters or groups to accomplish similar results. But, it's helpful to understand the basic function of filters vs. groups to determine which tool will provide an easier means of accomplishing your goal. Here’s some general guidance.
Filters
Views in Clari are like reports, and Filters determine which deals appear in your Views. Use Filters to control the criteria for the total set of deals that you want to see.
For example, if you're focused on open deals you have this quarter, you can set your Close Date Filter to "This Quarter" and your Deal Status Filter to "Open."

Groups
Filters determine which deals appear in your View, but Groups segment the deals in your View by the variables you select. Use Groups to segment the deals you’re looking at in the Opportunity Grid by any variables that are significant to you. Use Groups to easily compare the number of deals in different segments, and switch between them.
For example, when you're looking at all of your open deals that you're working this quarter, you might add a Group for Forecast Category, which would allow you to quickly identify how many of your deals are in Commit vs. Best Case vs. Pipeline.

That's a lot quicker than filtering on Commit deals for the quarter, then filtering on Best Case deals for the quarter, then filtering on Pipeline deals for the quarter when you really want to see deals in all of these categories.
