Why can't I sign into Groove from Outlook Desktop?

In some cases, the configuration of your computer and your Outlook settings can combine to cause some issues with third-party applications like Groove. If you set up Groove, you cannot click the "Sign in" button in the Groove add-in (e.g., clicking the button doesn't do anything); some configuration is likely causing this. Try going to Outlook web and signing into Groove to get around it. Once logged in, you will also be logged back into the Outlook desktop.

If you cannot sign in on Outlook Web, please get in touch with support@groove.co.

Why Are My Emails Getting Stuck in Drafts When I "Send With Groove"?

Composing a New Message

When using the "Send with Groove" button on a new message, the email can seem "stuck" in your Drafts. If you are using the Groove add-in within the Desktop application for Outlook on Windows, you may have a setting enabled called "Cached Exchange Mode." This setting saves a copy of your Inbox to your computer if you want to check your email while not connected to the Internet. This setting affects the "Send with Groove" button because it requires Groove to wait up to 5 minutes before sending your message. Usually, the message will be sent between 0 and 60 seconds from when you click "Send with Groove," but it can sometimes take longer if the initial send is unsuccessful. If this is the case, we usually expect to see emails sent within 15 minutes, but could take up to a few hours.

If you'd like to avoid this, you can disable Cached Exchange Mode - Details Here.

Replying to a Message

When replying to a message from the Outlook Desktop application on Windows, your view is usually in what's called "Inline Reply Mode." This means that the reply box is in line with your Inbox instead of popped out in its window. In this scenario, when you click "Send with Groove," Outlook's functionality does not let 3rd parties such as Groove close the email and move you to the next item in your Inbox. Instead, it will look like your email is "stuck" until you navigate away. You may also receive a message that says, "You are not replying to the latest message in the thread." - this is expected; since your email is actually sent, the one you're currently viewing is no longer the latest in the thread. The one you just Sent with Groove is now the latest in the thread, which you should see in your Sent Folder.

In this scenario, you can safely navigate away, and Groove will send your reply. Alternatively, you can "pop out" your reply into its own window; after doing so, clicking "Send with Groove" will send your message and close the window for you, similar to a new message.

Why is Groove freezing in my reply window?

A few limitations exist with all 3rd party Outlook add-ins regarding Inline reply mode. Inline reply mode refers to being in the same window when clicking "Reply" or "Reply All." If your add-in is pinned in the Inbox and pinned in the Compose window, opening a new inline reply will freeze the Groove add-in.

The Microsoft development team acknowledges this issue and will address it going forward.

How do I set up my Outlook signature in Groove?

Your organization may have Outlook signatures set up at the server level, meaning that your signature will be appended to any email sent from any platform (Outlook on your computer, your phone, even Groove!).

In contrast to the server level, signatures may be set up at the client level, which means you will have to configure your signature in each method of email sending before they populate for that respective method. You'll need to add your signature in your Groove settings for them to fill in flow emails.

Signatures can be added in your flow option settings here, under Email Signature Preview:
