Groove Email Open Tracking
With email open tracking, you can see who opens your emails. This article covers tracking emails with Gmail and Outlook.
How To Track Emails with Gmail
Let's start with Gmail. If you have Outlook, go here.
If you've got the Groove extension, you can track your first email by checking "Track" in the bottom left of your Gmail Compose window:

Notifications
Once you’ve started tracking an email, you’ll see notifications related to those email opens come through in the Notifications section of your Groove extension. This is where you can see a timestamp of when the email was opened, where it was opened, as well as if the email was opened on a desktop or mobile.

Automatically track emails
To make sure that you never miss out on important email engagement analytics, you can track all of your outbound emails by default by following these steps:
- Click your Groove extension in the top-right of your browser, then click the Settings icon.
- Check 'Track emails by default' and then 'Save and Close.'
Now Track will automatically be selected when you write emails.
Silence Notifications
You can silence all notifications by clicking on the bell icon from the Groove extension.
Note: To silence individual email thread notifications, you have to go to the Groove App — not the extension. And click on Mute Notifications under Activity Feed on the homepage.
Gmail users, skip to the section below.
In Outlook, email tracking functionality is controlled by the Clari Groove for Outlook Add-In (not the Groove Chrome extension).
To track emails, check the Track Email Activity checkbox in the Groove Sidebar on the righthand side of the screen

For the email to be tracked, you must click the "Send with Groove" button to send the email (see top of image above). If you use Outlook's native "Send" button, the email won't be tracked (regardless of how the "Track Email Activity" checkbox is set at the time of send). This is because the "Send with Groove"button is what enables Groove to process the email and insert the tracking pixel.
Note: If you're on the Send with Groove in Outlook beta program, then you can use the Outlook Send button and not the Send with Groove. This update will be available to all users soon.
You can still configure tracking settings via the Groove Sidebar by clicking the settings "gear" icon in the lower-right corner of the Sidebar, then selecting settings preferences (bottom right, see below):

View a List of Unopened Emails
You can view a list of unopened emails from a couple of different places.
From the Groove Extension, toggle Show only unread on as shown below:

From the Groove App — You can do this by selecting Unopened from the menu:

How Tracking Works with Multiple Email Recipients
When you send an email to multiple recipients, opens, clicks, and replies will be reported as below:
All notifications from a group email will label the participant as ‘Someone’. This anonymous identification convention is standard throughout most secure email open tracking tools.
Prevent specific email addresses from being tracked
If you don’t want all emails being tracked, you can apply an email blocklist to prevent specific emails from triggering tracking notifications (e.g., coworker/internal emails). Your Groove admin can configure this by following the directions in this article.
