There are 5 different field types listed below. Each column in Forecast Config will have a type that determines the properties that are configurable for that column.
-
Quota
-
Forecast
-
Read Only
-
Calculation Fields (ARM)
-
Reference
The section below contains all the editable properties for each field type listed above.
Field Name: Field name (or column name) determines the name of the column that will appear in the Forecast module
Aggregation Field: Values will be derived from amount fields that are filterable and added to the grid in Field Config
Sort By Field: Values will be derived from amount fields that are filterable in Field Config
Group By Field: Values will be derived from amount fields that are filterable in Field Config
Formula Description: Changes the description that appears when you hover over cells in the Forecast table.
Attainment Name: Changes the name of the Attainment Column (located next to the Quota column)
Gap Column: Show - If selected, a Gap Column will appear next to Attainment Column in the Forecast table. Gap is calculated by taking the difference between Quota and Attainment. Hide - If selected, the Gap Column will be hidden from the table.
Gap Name: Changes the name of the Gap Column (located next to the Attainment column)
Quota Edit Permission: Can be set to Admin Edit, User Edit, or Read Only
Gap Column / Gap Calculation (for Forecast Entry):
- Note: A quota field must be referenced for this option to work.
- Show:
- Difference between {Column Name} and CRM Closed: Gap is calculated by taking the difference between current field and CRM closed amount.
- Difference between {Column Name} and CRM Total: Gap is calculated by taking the difference between current field and CRM total amount.
- Difference between {Column Name} and Quota: Gap is calculated by taking the difference between current field and referenced Quota field.
- Hide: If selected, the Gap Column will be hidden from the table.
Gap Name (for Forecast Entry): Changes the name of the Gap Column (located next to the Attainment column)
Reference A Quota: Values will be derived from quota fields within the same tab
Primary Field: Yes or No
Composite: You can only configure or edit a component/composite column after the forecast field has been created. First create the forecast field then create the component/composite.
-
Temporal
-
Sum component columns into your composite across time periods.
-
For example, aggregate a monthly forecast to a quarterly forecast. This reference will show up when editing the composite forecast.
-
Subtype
-
Sum component columns into your composite that are within the same time period.
-
For example, add three quarterly forecast columns into one total forecast column. This reference will show up when editing the composite forecast.
Component Field Aggregation: Depends on composite (temporal or subtype). The available fields in the picklist are automatically determined by the composite type selection. For example, if temporal is selected, then only the monthly forecast fields will be available.
Allow Editing:
Yes: The composite can be overwritten and does not need to equal the sum of components
No: The composite must equal the sum of components
Past Time Periods: Forecast display for past periods allows you to configure whether you want:
For example, let’s say we are in June. Do I want to see $100K that was closed in May or $150K that was last forecasted for May?
Analytics Pulse Rollup: Can be set to Yes or No
Data Format: Can be changed for both Read Only and Calculation fields. Can be set to Aggregation of CRM total (e.g 12,345 or $12,345), Multiplier (e.g. 1.2X), or Percent (e.g. 12%)
Select Coverage Formula: Options include Coverage / Quota or Coverage / (Quota - Closed)
Associated Field: Values will be all fields in the tab
Field Description: Users can change field description for Calculation fields
Edit Associated Field
-
You can edit the associated field by selecting an available field from the picklist
-
If you associate a field with another field or change a field’s associate field, the order of the fields will change in the UI and in the side bar list of fields
-
To change the Data Format to Multiplier or Percent, you must first associate a field via Edit Associated Fields. The user can edit the Data Format of Read-Only fields to an
Aggregation of Deal Size (e.g. 12,345 or $12,345).Multiplier (e.g. 1.2X)Percent (e.g. 12%)
You can only edit the Coverage Formula if they have selected a Data Format Multiplier (e.g. 1.2X) or Percent (e.g. 12%)
Check out this example, where Data Format is a multiplier, therefore the user has the option to edit the coverage formula:

Edit Aggregation Field
You can change the field that is aggregated by picking another value in the available set of fields. This determines how the Opportunity totals are calculated in the forecasting right side panel.
-
If no specific values are defined in the aggregate section, then it will automatically total up 100% of the returned opportunities
-
The picklist of fields is editable via Field Configuration

Edit Sort Field

With Forecast Config, Clari Admins can modify their query filter expressions using a text-based “query builder”. This is a powerful new component that will allow admins to change the fields operators and values that drive the logic behind the totals that appear in Forecasting.
How it works
You have existing query filters configured for each role, within each column, within each tab. Once the feature flag is enabled, admins will be able to see these query filters that are configured and edit them:

Modifying Instructions
Let's cover the steps to do this. Below the steps, you'll find descriptions of the inputs, fields, and more information.
-
Select a Forecast Tab > Column and navigates to the Query section
-
See query filters configured for each User Type within each Forecast Column (PS team does this for all Columns today)
-
Modify existing queries by typing into the text-based query builder and start
-
by defining the Field
-
once a field has been defined, an Operator must be selected
-
finally, they must select the Value(s)
-
operators such as AND OR NOT can be used to join conditions together
-
conditions can be grouped or nested using parentheses () if they want to evaluate one condition before another
-
Once any changes have been made to the existing queries, admins click Save
-
Upon clicking Save, we run a validation check.
-
If the changes pass the validation check, then the changes are saved within the draft
-
If changes do not pass the validation check, the reason is provided to the user
-
Admin can view changes in the draft summary
-
Admin click Publish Changes to finish
Fields: The list of available fields comes from the Opportunity Filterable layout from the associated Mode.

Operator: The list of available operators depends on the field type and context in the query.
-
is , is not - only 1 value can be selected and will be evaluated against
-
in , not in - multiple values can be selected and evaluated against
-
AND,OR,AND NOT,OR NOT - can be used to join conditions together
Value: The list of available values for each Field comes from the filter options defined in Field Config. You cannot create custom values.
Here's an example of Filter options defined in the Field Properties page within Field Configuration:

Admin can now edit forecast global settings in Forecast Config. The editable settings include:
-
Forecast Manager Adjustments
-
Forecast Display for past time periods
-
Forecast Display for weekly columns
-
Forecast Cadence
-
Creating Forecast Custom Roles
You cannot modify: Forecast Caching. For assistance with caching settings, please reach out to Clari support.
From Forecast Configuration go to Global Settings in the top left corner.
Let's cover each setting on the page:
-
Manager Adjustments are essentially overrides to their reports' forecasts if they disagree with what their team members are forecasting.
Yes - enable forecast adjustments
No - disable forecast adjustments
2. Forecast display for past periods allows you to configure whether you want:
For example, let’s say we are in June. Do I want to see $100K that was closed in May or $150K that was last forecasted for May?
3. Forecast display for weekly columns allows you to configure whether you want:
4. Forecast Update Cadence
-
Daily Cadence - the forecast week cadence will update every rolling X amount of days.
-
For example, I want my forecast week to update every rolling 7 days.
-
This is different than a weekly cadence because with a rolling period, the end day of the forecast week can change.
-
Weekly Cadence - the forecast will update every week, two weeks, three etc…
5. The default forecast roles are those created during your Clari implementation.
Note: These are read-only and cannot be edited. We are bringing this to your attention for your information only.
6. Some orgs elect to have custom roles for their complex business operations. In this section, users can edit/delete existing custom roles or create new ones.
No Reports - means this role is for individual contributors
Has Reports - This role is for leaders who have individual contributors reporting to them in the forecast hierarchy.
To delete a custom role, ensure the role is not being used in any forecast column formula or has any users opted into that role. If one of those crieteria is not met, then you will not be able to delete the role.
For deleting custom roles from column formulas, please reach out to your CSM.
Note: You can have a max of 15 custom roles.
Duplicate Modes and Consumption Modes
Admins to create modes with the same display name, reporting, and query object, owner, and aggregation fields. For more information on mode creation, see this article. To set up a mode that leverages ingested data coming from a newly integrated data source, please follow the steps detailed in this article.
How to delete a mode
Admins can delete modes.
How to use:
-
From Clari Studio, go to the mode settings (via the mode dropdown)
-
Scroll to the bottom and click ‘Delete Mode’
-
A confirmation modal will appear and you can confirm the action.

A banner will notify you if you cannot delete a certain mode.
Note:
-
The two seeded modes: ‘Opportunity Mode’ and ‘Account Owner Mode’ cannot be deleted
-
The default mode cannot be deleted (in some cases this overlaps with seeded modes such as ‘Opportunity Mode’). Learn how to change the default mode below.
-
If the mode is used within Saved Views, Widgets, Forecasting config, etc. then the mode delete will be blocked and an Export button containing a file with all the dependencies on this mode will appear. Please resolve those dependencies and then proceed to delete the mode.
Template is Invalid
Red error message at the top of Clari Web. If the template is misconfigured, you will be prevented from editing it in Forecast Management. The user will be in Read-Only Mode.
Empty Tab Name
You will not be able to save a blank tab name. If you have a blank text input, you will not be able to rename the tab.
Empty Field Name
You will not be able to save a blank tab name. Empty name fields turn red and won't allow you to save.
If you attempt to change the Data Format from Aggregation of Deal Size (e.g. 12,345 or $12,345) to Multiplier (e.g. 1.2X) or Percent (e.g. 12%) without first selecting a quota in Reference a Quota, you will get this error:

If you attempt to change Reference a Quota to None when your Data Format is Multiplier (e.g. 1.2X) or Percent (e.g. 12%), you will not see the option. To select “None” as a Quota reference, change the Data Format to be Aggregation of Deal Size (e.g. 12,345 or $12,345).
Quota Field in Forecast Template does not exist in Quota Template
If the user has defined a Quota field in the Forecast Template, but not the Quota template, user will not be able to reference that quota in Forecast Management. The missing field must be added the Quota template.
