User Management: Impersonation
Overview
As an ops or support person, you may receive requests from the field when issues arise. Sometimes the best way to get to the bottom of it is simply to see what the user sees. Impersonation allows you to do just that.
Impersonating a User
Starting an Impersonation Session
- From User Management, search for the user you wish to impersonate using the left-hand panel.
- Hover your mouse over the name of the person and click on the Impersonate User button.
- You’ll see a window pop up prompting you to acknowledge that any change you make in User Impersonation mode will apply to that user. Click Ok, I Understand.

It’s important to note that while impersonating a user you are doing everything as that user. For this reason, you must have the proper permissions in order to access this feature. Your security and integrity is top of mind at Clari, so we carefully log every action that’s taken while impersonation for audit purposes.
Impersonation Mode
While you’re in Impersonation Mode, you’ll notice a blue banner at the top of the screen reminding you who you’re impersonating.

If you make a change to this user’s filters, sorting, grouping (any change to the user’s current state), the user will see those changes when she logs back in.
If you create a View or a Dashboard, it will be private View or Dashboard for the user you’re impersonating.
Leaving an Impersonation Session
To leave an impersonation session:
- Click "Return to User Management" at the top left of the blue banner.
