Field Configuration
This article is a basic overview of Field Configuration. To learn about Clari Modes and Layouts, and to get certified on key tasks you can perform in Field Configuration, enroll in Field Configuration University in the Clari University Portal.
Overview
Field Configuration Module is the control center where you can "configure" fields, layouts, and modes in your Clari environment.
Psst: Sometimes, we shorten the name to Field Config. Field Config is accessible to Clari Advanced Ops Admins.
Field configuration allows you to:
-
Add, delete, and edit fields
-
Reorder fields within different layouts and modes
-
Create modes for different roles
- Export a CSV of your configured fields
With this module, an admin has the flexibility to set up Clari in the way they prefer and quickly fine-tune fields to suit their company.
Advanced Ops Admins can access Field Configuration from the menu in Clari Studio.
Like this:

Layouts and Modules
Clari Layouts determine which fields display in different locations in Clari (like the Opportunity Grid, Details Panel, Filters, Groups...you get the picture).
With Field Config, admins can customize Layouts so each user sees the right data in the right context.
The table below includes all of the Layouts in Clari Modules.

Layout Images and Definitions
Once you set up your layouts in Field Config, you'll wanna see the layouts in Clari, right?
Let's cover where you can find each layout in Clari. If you haven't taken our Field Configuration courses in Clari University—they're a great way to get extra comfy with layouts. 🧑🏫
Opportunities Module Layouts
Let's start with layouts in the Opportunities Module.
Grid and Web Detail

Filterable and Groupable

a. Opportunities Filterable: The layout shown above the Opportunity Grid for advanced filtering. Fields configured will display in the Add Filter dropdown.
b. Opportunities Groupable: The layout on the left-hand panel displays grouping options. Fields configured will display in the Add Group dropdown. A field must be filterable to be groupable (i.e., there must be a filter for Stage to group by Stage).
Analyze Module Layouts
Head over to the Analyze Module (below is Pulse). Most of the Analyze Layouts in Clari are at the top by Filters. Check out this annotated image to learn where each layout shows up in Clari.

a. Analyze Filterable: Layout is by Filters under Choose Scope. These fields display in the Add Filter dropdown.
b. Analyze Rollup: Layout to the right of Chart Settings. Fields are under the Amounts dropdown.
c. Analyze Breakdown: Layout to the right of Chart Settings. Fields show up in the Breakdown By dropdown.
d. Analyze Close Date: Layout to the right of Chart Settings. Fields show up under the Date dropdown.
Waterfall Filterable Layout in Analyze
If you navigate to the Waterfall Analyze Module, you'll find this layout in Filters:

Accounts Module Layouts
Check out the annotated image below to learn where Accounts Module Layouts are in Clari.

a. Activity Grid: Layout within the Accounts module to view all accounts. Fields will display as grid columns.
b. Activity Filterable: Layout to the right of Filters. Fields will show up in the Add Filter dropdown.
c. Activity Details: The layout is shown on the right-side panel when you select an account. Fields display as rows.
Forecast Module Layouts
And finally, let's cover Forecast Layouts with the images below.
Forecast Summary
This summary displays in the right-side panel under Opportunities. Your fields will show up as columns in the summary.

Forecast Grid View
You'll find this layout by clicking Expand Details from the summary (shown above). When you click Expand Details, you'll see opportunities in a grid, and your fields will show up as columns in the grid:

A Note on Layouts
If you log into Field Configuration and select Forecast Expanded Grid (see screenshot below), you might not see any fields in the table. If that’s true, it's because your Forecast Expanded Grid is inheriting the same layout and order of the fields in the Opportunity Grid.
If there are fields displayed, it means it has been altered, and the Forecast Expanded Grid no longer inherits the same fields as the Opportunity Grid.
Note: It's also not possible to copy the exact configuration of another grid and use it in Forecast Expanded Grid. Currently, you have to add each field individually.

Adding, Deleting, and Editing Fields
With Field Configuration, admins can add, delete, or edit the fields in each of the Layouts in your Clari instance.

Types of Fields
In general, the different types of fields that Clari supports are:
- Date
- Checkbox
- Percentage
- Number
- String
- Picklist
- Currency
Not all of these field types are supported in every Clari Layout. Here's more info on Salesforce Fields in Clari.
Modes
There are likely many roles involved in your company's revenue process— so, it’s important to make it easy to find the relevant deals and data for each role. Modes create a personalized experience for users by showing deals and information that are relevant to each of them.
You can use Clari Modes to customize how deals (and other records like Accounts) are rolled up across the hierarchy. This flexibility allows revenue teams to access the right data, and it allows individuals who don’t own Opportunities or Accounts to see relevant information.
Different modes pull different records from Salesforce. So, when you choose a mode, it tells Clari:
1. Which Salesforce records to query
2. How to identify the owner(s) of a record (i.e. opportunity)
3. And, which amount field to aggregate
Exports
As of October 2024, exports include the position number of the field within each of the layouts within each mode.
Admins can generate an export of all the configured fields across their layouts.
To export from Field Configuration, go to Actions (top right) > Export
This will generate a CSV that lists the following information:
- Field ID
- Field Name
- Field Display Name
- Field Type
- Data Source
- Read-Only status
- Mode Name
- Layouts
