2. Advanced Contact Sync Settings
3. Salesforce Integration Settings
4. Matching Logic Settings
Contact Sync Settings determine how contacts from your meetings, emails, and calendars sync with Clari. This article covers what each setting does.
Access Contact Sync settings from Clari Studio > Capture Configurations > Contact Sync > General Settings.

1. Configuration Active
This setting enables or disables the configuration. It is set to Yes by default.
Things to Note: If this is your only active configuration, you cannot disable it. Contact Support for assistance.
2. Output Mode
In Preview mode, captured data is stored in the Clari database only and does not sync to your CRM. Before enabling Write to CRM, confirm that all configuration settings match your requirements. Changes process at midnight PT on the night you make them.

3. Activity Retroactive Time Period
This controls how many months back Clari processes activities when a new configuration is applied or a new user is added. By default, this is set to 12 months. You can set it to anywhere from 0 months (contacts captured going forward only) up to 12 months.
4. Identify Contacts From Meetings
This setting syncs contacts from calendar events. It is enabled by default. When enabled, Capture reviews meeting participants for new contacts to create. New contacts are added after the meeting occurs.
5. Identify Contacts From Emails
This setting syncs contacts from emails. Two additional settings let you narrow the scope of which emails and contacts are processed:
- SYNC CONTACTS FROM INBOUND EMAILS ONLY: When enabled, Capture creates contacts from emails sent by people outside your organization only. This is set to No by default. If switched to Yes, Capture will not create contacts from emails sent by internal users.
- CREATE ONLY THE SENDER AS A CONTACT: When enabled, Capture generates a contact for the sender only. This is set to No by default. If switched to Yes, Capture will create contacts for all email participants, not the sender alone.
6. Create Opportunity Contact Roles
This setting determines whether the contact sync engine creates contact opportunity roles. It is enabled by default. To create Account contacts only, disable this option.
7. Process Open Opportunities Only
This setting determines whether only open opportunities are considered during contact opportunity role creation. It is enabled by default.
This is useful if you have validation rules in place around updating closed opportunities — enabling this prevents Capture from attempting to match against those records.
If you want Capture to match contacts to closed opportunities as well, you can disable this setting. This may be appropriate if your organization relies heavily on opportunity-level contacts and many of your accounts do not have open opportunities.
